Two girls raped by armed militias in Nertiti locality west of Jebel Marra in Darfur – western Sudan:
On Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 12:00 pm, two girls were attacked by four armed Janjaweed militiamen in uniform and others are not uniform who raped two girls under the age of 18 in central Darfur (Zalingi) in Nertiti locality, west of Jebel Marra 6 kilometers away in the banks of the Cerro Valley. A woman from the family of victims told Darfur Network for Monitoring and Documentation, “ The rapists went out to fetch firewood, intercepted by Janjaweed militias, threatened them with weapons and beat them until they lost consciousness, and then raped them alternately, knowing that the rapists were only 15 years old.
The usurpers are:
1 – Nazira Adam Ibrahim, 14 years old belonging to the Fur tribe.
2 – Asma Adam Ali, aged 13 years belong to the tribe Fur also.
Therefore, a report was opened at the police station in Nertti locality. They were then taken to Nirtti Rural Hospital for treatment.
DNMD, Darfur Network for Monitoring and Documentation, believes that sexual violence has been instrumental in the war process in Darfur since 2003. Elements of the Sudanese army and militia continue to rape as a tool of oppression, humiliation and demographic change. Over the past 17 years of genocide and ethnic cleansing, despite the fall of the previous government, the situation in Darfur has not changed. Of their dissolution and punishment for their crimes against of victims and civilians in Darfur.
Citizens in Sudan’s western Darfur region do not feel the change has taken place because abuses against civilians continue going on.
DNMD, Darfur Network for Monitoring and Documentation, condemns and denounces crimes against humanity committed against civilians in the Darfur region of western Sudan by Sudanese forces and armed militias.
It calls on relevant organizations to intervene urgently to stop human rights abuses in Sudan’s Darfur region, especially sexual violence against women.
DNMD, Darfur Network for Monitoring and Documentation, also appeals to the Transitional Government of Sudan to immediately intervene in the investigation of crimes of sexual violence in Nertiti, Central Darfur State (Zalingi) and bring the perpetrators to a fair trial.
